The cura­tor Inke Arns is a cen­tral fig­ure for the exhi­bi­tion of media art in Germany. She com­bines media art with the con­cept of max­i­mum con­tem­po­rane­ity. She is direc­tor of the HMKV Hartware MedienKunstVerein, one of the few art asso­ci­a­tions in Germany to offer the know-how and infra­struc­ture to real­ize com­plex media art exhi­bi­tions. Arns advo­cates a broad con­cept of media that includes media art and dig­i­tal art as well as per­for­mances and rela­tion­al aes­thet­ics, the exam­i­na­tion of ghost­ly media, his­tor­i­cal approach­es to pho­tog­ra­phy, de-indus­tri­al­iza­tion as a medi­um, or radio waves as sound mate­r­i­al.
